Oakley... Hello! I am so pleased to meet you, and you will be so happy to meet me, too! I am a sweet, beautiful 3-year-old Golden girl who is looking for a forever home and family to call my own. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have been kind of nomadic lately -- I have been with three different families in just one year! My first family really loved me, but my mom got very sick and so I went to live with a friend. Then the friend left town a a few months after that and called GRR, and I moved into my foster home. I have settled in beautifully here, but now I am ready to move on and find that perfect home where I will live forever!

Let me tell you about Wonderful Me. I am housebroken, calm indoors, and I get along with cats and other dogs. I like kids, and everyone I meet is a friend. Sometimes I get excited when I meet adults and I jump up to say hello. My foster mom says I need to work on that, and that not everyone likes my enthusiastic greetings (although I certainly don’t understand why)! I really love to take walks, and will remind you if you forget to take me out -- and I wag my tail during the entire walk. I would make a great running companion, too. But we’d have to start out slow so I can build up my endurance. Sometimes I will fetch a ball; it just depends on how frisky I am feeling at the time. And I really like to be brushed. It feels so good and I just can’t get enough of it! Oh and did I tell you that I like walks? They’re just my favorite and I will be the best walking partner and Miss Motivator ever!

I have to admit -- I can be a little stubborn at times. I like to be outside on the deck, and sometimes I will not come inside when I am called. I just get so comfy I don’t want to move! But my foster family is working on that. One other thing you should know about me … I get upset when there are thunderstorms around. I don’t tear things up or chew anything or have accidents, but I DO get nervous and run around a bit and like to be close to my humans. I usually pant and pace around until I find a spot that I feel secure in, like under a table or desk, or sitting in a corner. What also really helps is the medication the vet gave me. I have pills you can give me that make me feel better during these tense times.

And speaking of medicine … remember how I told you how much I have moved around? That can make a girl kind of anxious. When I first came to GRR I didn’t know if I should unpack my suitcase or not! So I was kind of nervous. The vet gave me some little tablets to help me relax and settle in, and I sure have made great progress! My foster mom says that I have come such a long way since I came to her house. I am playful and happy and so much more relaxed about everything. The vet says that I can stay on the pills for a while, until I am totally transitioned into my new home, too.

Which brings me to: I really would love that new home to call my own, where I can relax and have my very own family to love and take care of. Won’t you please consider adopting me and making me part of your family? You will find out that I am the best companion ever. I can’t wait to hear from you so we can start planning our future together!

Yours truly,

Oakley
