Clay...Hi!
My name is Clay! I'm a very sweet and outgoing dog. I'm a young, beautiful boy
with great personality (so I'm told). Affection is my number one priority in
life. If a human is around, you can bet I’ll be right there to take in all the
affection I can get. I’m just so happy to have been sprung from the Town Lake
Animal Shelter. My foster mom sometimes calls me "Clay Dough". Heck, I don't
mind. I'm just thrilled to be here.
My current job in my new foster home is to make sure that the water bowl is filled to the brim. I’m an active guy with a real thurst! I love to fetch tennis balls. I could do it for hours on end if someone had the time. I’d be their bestest friend in the whole wide world and I’d even bring it back and drop it if you tell me to.
I’m learning to play nice with my foster brother. I don’t think I had a playmate before, so at first I was a little protective of the toys. But I’m learning that this playmate thing is pretty cool. My foster brother and I love to play chase and wrestle in the mud. The messier the better. Yep, I’m an active guy! My mommy doesn’t think wrestling in the mud is a good thing so she’s taught us to wait and have our paws wiped down before we can come back into the house. That wasn’t a hard thing to learn because I figure it’s a massage after a good work out!
Even better than getting petted and a paw massage is getting groomed. Oh, I love getting brushed – it makes my coat shiny and luxurious. I even enjoy pedicures, but take my word for it, the clippers don’t taste anything like cookies! When I first came here I liked to check out everything on the counter. I guess that was a no-no, because I kept being told to get down. I guess I’ll wait patiently for my treats.
My foster mom says I’m going to make a great companion with the right family. When I first arrived here, I was unsure how to behave. Luckily, Maximus (my foster brother), taught me well and now we even sleep next to each other at night. I didn’t share to well at first, but now we get banana treats side by side. My foster mom giggles when she sees us sitting side by side following the bananas in her hand… left to right, right to left. Did I mention that my foster mommy likes to tease us with bananas? But I love it because she gives me lots of praise and pats on the head.
At the park, I can walk like a gentlemen escorting his family on their nightly
outing. On these walks, I love meeting new people and giving them a golden kiss!
Being young and all, I still have a lot to learn. You can teach me just about
anything if there are goodies involved. All I need is a few cookies and whole
lotta love.
