Adopted
Arlo...
This big boy is truly awesome. He’s 90 lbs, has a thick curly red coat, bright
orange eyes and paws that belong on a lion. As imposing as his size may be, he’s
as sweet and gentle as a lamb and still has a lot of puppy in him. Because his
teeth are in such good shape, the vet thinks he’s about 2 and a half.
When
he runs, he has the graceful gait of a horse, but most of the time, he’s pretty
clumsy. He has no idea how big he is. He is a good retriever and brings the
object back most of the time, but then he does like to walk around with
something in his mouth – preferably something soft, yes, like a slipper. Don’t
worry though, he hasn’t destroyed a thing. He's hidden a few, took a few socks
out to the backyard, but never ruined anything. He does counter surf but we're
working on that.
Arlo gets along well with all the dogs he’s met so far, including some
aggressive males. One came up to him barking and growling and Arlo just licked
his nose through the fence and they’ve been buds ever since. He plays well with
our female but doesn’t drive her crazy or pester her like some of our other
young foster males. He has not had any exposure to cats yet.
He’s a big lovable Teddy bear, but some things do frighten him. No telling what
was in his life before, but Arlo doesn't have any major issues. We're sure with
a little love and reassurance that the little things won't frighten him any
more.
He quickly fit into our household and has free run of the house all day. It’s
incredible that someone let this boy go. He is a prize.
