Adopted
Irish
came into foster care a little over a week ago. He was rescued from Williamson
County Animal Shelter where he had been taken in as a stray. It is obvious that
he is a beautiful, medium-sized, field red, full-breed golden retriever. Since
he had been homeless, he is still a bit skinny. We're working on that. After a
few days, Irish has grown to love eating his dog food and will always want more,
after he gives a little burp.
Irish
is just a kid that plays hard for 10 minutes and afterward, immediately naps for
20. As excited as he can be, Irish can't keep his eyes open as soon as someone
starts petting him. The eye lids drop, then he leans on your knee, then the
total collapse into slumber. It's the funniest thing.
He
likes to fetch, and is learning to give the ball back. His favorite is the rope
toy. Irish is also learning to swim. He makes big splashes now and is eager to
try the deep end of the lake. Irish definitely chases squirrels, and
unfortunately cats too.
He's housebroken and crate-trained. He makes a good car passenger. Irish walks
well on a leash when he's walked alone. When he walks with other dogs, he likes
to be first so it can be kind of a scramble to the finish. Irish is still
learning to share his toys with other dogs.
Irish
is a sweet, silly, playful, sleepy, totally loveable dog. If Irish were to ask
for anything, he would ask for a big fluffy dog bed. Sometimes he tries making
his own on laundry day. Oh, and he'd ask for the best new forever family too. He
can't wait!
