Adopted

W es...This is Wes, a 5 year-old boy who came to us from a shelter outside Austin from a very neglectful place and was in bad shape. He had gotten into barbed wire so had lots of scabs and cuts. He had severely infected ears, and a very uncomfortable eye condition called entropion. Entropion is a condition where the eyelid turns into the eye rather which causes the eyelashes to scratch the eye. Ouch!

He was also very underweight and had bald spots from fleas, food allergies and malnutrition. But one piece of great news: no heartworms! They said it was a miracle.

GRR took him in and got him all fixed up. He had surgery to fix the entropion,, his ears were treated and he was put on a corn- and wheat-free diet to help with his food allergies. He is on the road to recovery and a life that he deserves.

Wes is a very very mellow boy. Not much frightens or excites him. He isn’t interested in retrieving or playing, but is starting to show a bit more pep as he continues on his road to recovery. He is so patient with our hyper dog. He lets our 1-yr old golden bounce all around him, nudge at his ears and beg to play. I’m not sure if he secretly enjoys the attention or is just extremely patient. He loves being with people or our golden and follows us all around the house. His favorite thing is to get a good massage or rub down.

Wes absolutely loves any love and attention. He stands like a statue when he is getting a bath or being groomed. I think any love feels good to him, even if it’s soapy because he didn’t get enough love in his pervious life.

In his foster home, he lives with our 1-year old golden and 5-year old cat. He doesn’t bother the cat at all. He will watch him cross the room then get bored with him and move on. Our 1 year old wants to play and play for hours but Wes doesn’t want much to do with all of that. He would rather lounge.

Wes is very good at minding his manners and quickly earned free roam of the house. He will sit for a treat, take it gently, and he hasn’t has a single accident in the house. He doesn’t bark, doesn’t counter surf or jump up on anyone. He doesn’t chew anything he’s not supposed to and doesn’t get up on the furniture. He also loves going on walks and walks very well on a leash. What a good boy! He does like taking pills, so they have to be hidden in his treats.

Wes is a wonderful easy-going dog that needs a permanent home where he can kick back and enjoy life like he deserves.
