Dear GRR,

This is the story of Rocky.  We adopted Rocky into our family in August of 2003 while living in San Antonio.  Rocky a.k.a. to us as Rocket, Rocky Socks or Buddy is our second sweet golden.  Never in our wildest dreams did we ever think that we would become as attached to another golden as we were to our first golden, Jessie.  We were wrong!

Rocky is a handsome (now old boy) whom the entire family adores.  He has a sweet personality and is very obedient.  We love him very much and he loves us!

Rocky is now a yankee dog as we have moved back to our home town of St. Louis, Missouri.  He loves to play in the snow and chase snowballs!

Thank you GRR for matching us up with Rocky – he is a gem!

Sincerely,

Cia and Tom

Rocky

Hey everybody, follow the bouncing Kong and sing with me…. Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday dear Rocky, Happy Birthday to me!

Ok, so I’m a bit of an attention hound, but when you turned 3, like I will on September 29th, you probably wanted everyone to sing to you too! When I get to blow out my candles and make my wish, it will be for a loving family who will give me the best birthday present in the world…a happy, forever home where I can be the apple of your eyes.

I’ve had a really great life and I’m healthy as a horse (maybe a tad chunky but I’m working on that). My former family retired and wanted to take road trips. While I’m great in the car and love to ride, a boy’s gotta run and play at the end of the day. I just exude so much energy and enthusiasm for everything and everybody. It was a difficult decision for my former family to make, but they realized I need a family that will love and play with me and can keep up with my entertaining antics.

I am very smart, totally fun loving, and eager to please. I love my chest and tummy to be rubbed, and am working on having my head patted (I tend to raise my head up and nudge your hand down to my chest). I have allowed my foster mom to clean my ears, clip my nails and get my paws trimmed up. I have a fairly short attention span yet because there is so much to see and do! I am told that I am kind of puppy-like and that I would be fun to take to obedience class to learn how to interact with other dogs, since I’ve been alone since I was a puppy. I know and respond to many commands, and I have a whole list of information to show my new family about all the things I know and do.

Though I was outdoors during the day and got to come in and sleep in the house at night, I am totally housebroken and have had no accidents at all. I like treats and take them easily. I have many toys and love to play ball. I will give you the ball without any tugging or mouth-holding. I am working on not pawing my people, I just want their attention. I am trying really hard, and making great progress. I like to lick my people sometimes, and will even lick my foster siblings, which is how I let them know that I want to take care of everyone and am really happy that everyone wants to take care of me too!

So as I count down the days to my 3rd birthday, I am excited and happy to know that I’m going to find a forever home to share my big golden heart with. I am a lucky dog, indeed. Happy Birthday to me!!
