Remembered
BJ
This is BJ who is 6+ year old golden girl and comes to us from an owner who
loved her so much she named her after her own daughter (BJ stands for Brandy
Jr.) We were contacted by BJ's owner telling us that she had had her since she
was an 8 week old puppy but could not take BJ where she knew she would be soon
be going. You see BJ's owner had end stage terminal cancer and what she wanted
most was to know that her golden girl would go to a loving home. Gold Ribbon
said we can do that.
So BJ, came to live with us until that right family can be found for her. BJ
will be with us for a little while because although her owner loved her and had
the heartworm preventative to give her, she did not have the strength to give it
regularly and BJ has tested heartworm positive. She will be treated for that
soon and in the meantime she's a delight to have for company.
Now
let me tell you about the visiting golden girl we sometimes call Jelly Bean.
When she first arrived we could tell she was sad and confused about why she came
to live with us so we decided to let her hang out in the den with our old cat
who has been a canine ambassador to many a visiting dog. They got on very well
and we could see that Mr. Kitty liked BJ very much and slept near her for a
couple of days. But shortly after BJ came to live with us our Mr. Kitty passed
on. So we were all sad together for a while.
But
time passes and as it did BJ started to feel better and we started to feel
better and before long it was time to let BJ mingle with our other three dogs.
They seemed to already know each other and are happy to spend time together in
the back yard, investigating all the scents left from the night before by
foraging deer and delinquent neighbor cats. They seem to enjoy the same
television programs because they all lay around in the living room together
after dinner. Oh sometime
one or the other or all four like to come up to my study and see what I'm up to
before it's time to settle in for the night or to see if I'll let them out one
more time in just case those night critters are out there. But usually it's "off
to your places" with BJ in her crate and the others to their own places.
BJ is a handsome girl with a soft wavy yellow coat and a big happy smile. And
why do we call her Jelly Bean? Because she is the type of golden that just makes
you feel happy inside when you look at her and see that sweet face and wagging
tail.
