Adopted

Barley, the gentleman who has walked into our homes and stolen our hearts!! He was picked up by a good samaritan in San Antonio when he was repeatedly seen hanging around the neighborhood swimming pool. I can't imagine how anyone could let this wonderful guy go.

He is 3-4 years old and as near to perfect as they come. Barley has been fostering with us for 2 weeks now and has managed to worm is way into the hearts of everyone who meets him. He is a beautiful dark mahogany color with wonderful, expressive eyes. What an intelligent dog he is. There isn't much that goes on around here that doesn't earn a raised eyebrow look of curiosity.

If you are looking for that perfect, loving companion, Barley is just the dog for you. He has proven himself to be completely trustworthy in the house. No accidents, countersurfing, or interest in inappropriate objects. In fact, it is as if he has been here forever and instinctively knows all the rules.

One of his most adorable antics is carrying around balls and bones in his mouth. How funny it is to watch him try to get as many in as he can. There are just so many wonderful things out there to play with that he can't decide which one he wants most, so he just chooses them all.....at the same time. Barley will play ball with you forever if you will just keep throwing it.

Talk about swimmers, he is a fabulous water sport companion. It was so disappointing for him the first few days here when he couldn't get into the pool with us. After his neuter, he couldn't be wet for several days so unfortunately he had to watch from the sidelines longingly. Now that he is all healed though, he helps himself to the pool ladder and takes a dip whenever we do. He is so graceful with his pool ladder climbing and entering the water that sometimes we don't even hear him until he is swimming towards us.

I think he thought he had gone to Heaven last weekend when we took him to the river in Kerrville to camp.. Water retrieving is definitely one of his favorite pastimes. He was so wonderful at the campground that he attracted much attention and comments on our well behaved dogs.

Barley gets along well with his foster sisters, a golden, a field spaniel, and a cat. The cat he pretty much ignores. By far his favorite in the house is our 7 year old son. Anytime he can be laying near him or playing with him, he is. Whenever I look around and don't have him near me, I can find him in Tyler's room.

If you are a family looking for a trained, lovable addition to your family, your searching is over. Are you going to be the ones that give this gentle sweetheart the loving forever home that he so deserves?
