Adopted
Brandi...
This is a story about a sweet little girl named Brandi. About 4 weeks ago a Good
Samaritan noticed a truck drive by his house and stop at the end of the street,
he put a dog out of his truck and drove off! The poor dog ran after her owner
but couldn't catch up with the truck. She saw the Good Samaritan and ran over to
him. Luckily her Good Sam called GRR and we brought Brandi in to our care. How
someone could just leave this sweet Golden is beyond us.
We
can not begin to tell you what a delightful little girl Brandi has turned into.
We think she is about 2 years old and needs to put a little weight on. She was
recently spayed but has had no problems recovering. She is smitten with her
foster brother, Thor. They spend hours together playing – well, she plays he
stands there and takes whatever playful mischief she dishes out. Of course, he
outweighs her by about 35 lbs so we think he must believe she is just a puppy,
because he is so gentle with her and just lets her play all over him!
As her Foster Mom, I believe I have pieced together Brandi's story. I think she
was kept as an outside dog or one who was alone alot. So maybe when her owners
did spend time with her she just over reacted and got too excited. This probably
caused them to put her back outside more. You can see the cycle here and it
wasn’t a good one for Brandi.
But
Brandi is a wonderful inside dog. She just loves to be your companion and spends
hours getting hugs and kisses from her foster family. Now this is a good cycle!
Brandi has turned into a calm, sweet, gentle loving little girl. She has not
chewed or destroyed one thing. She does like to get on the couch and snuggle and
we have decided this is ok because she is small.
She eats her dry food very well and takes treats gently when reminded to do so.
She has settled into a routine and sleeps on the floor in our bedroom all night.
She
has taken to going swimming when we are in the pool, but doesn't get in when no
one is out there. She has been very careful not to go in our flowers or dig. She
does occasionally bark at the neighbor’s dog when outside but then again, so
does he.
Brandi is learning to walk with the calm leader leash and is doing great on it.
She knows sit and down and we are working on getting her not to jump when she
first see you. She has learned quickly with only one command "off".
Although
Brandi has a sad story about her being dumped by her owners it was really a
blessing in disguise because they just didn't know what a wonderful girl they
actually had. If they had only taken the time to spend with her they would have
discovered a sweet soul.
Brandi deserves a special home with a family that wants a special dog to be
their companion. She is so ready to learn and love.
