Calypso
Calypso's past is a complete
mystery. She was discovered in the San Antonio Animal Shelter, where she was
suffering from many tangled mats, fleas, ticks, and kennel cough. GRR was able
to rescue her and after a few hours of bathing and grooming, Calypso is now a
happy, beautiful, fluffy girl. Calypso is approximately 5 years old, 58-pounds
and has a beautiful warm-blonde color.
She
is new to being indoors and is curious about many things like bath tubs, stairs,
televisions and mirrors. I catch her staring at herself in a full-length mirror
at least once a day. She probably doesn't even recognize herself after the
grooming and fluffing. Although she's new to indoors, she is very well-behaved.
Calypso is reliably house-trained and has no interest in climbing on furniture.
Because she came from the streets, Calypso still eats and drinks like there is
no tomorrow. She tried a little counter-surfing too, so we are working on this.
Calypso
is gentle, mild-mannered and extremely polite. I've never heard her bark. She
walks well on a leash. And, Calypso is learning the basics--sit, stay, down,
spin. She sleeps through the night and is calm when left to be alone at home.
Calypso is also sweet and gentle with other dogs and children.
When Calypso went to Bull Creek the other day we found she was totally new to
swimming. While she won't just dive in right away, we've led her into a smooth
paddle. It was great fun to see her boost in confidence after she learned to
swim like the other dogs.
Calypso is sweet and loves her people. She will follow you forever. It’s that
cold wet nose on your hand that tells you she's ready for a rub and a hug. I'm
certain she'll make a great friend for her new forever family.
