Lady

Lady is a beautiful 5-year-old female who came to us from a wonderful Good Samaritan in San Antonio. After finding her collapsed along side the road, infested with fleas and ticks, too dehydrated and near death to even stand up, the Good Sam literally picked Lady up off ground and rushed her to the vet. Lady she spent two weeks recuperating at the vet’s office where everyone thought she was a great dog. The Good Sam loved her but didn’t have room in her home for Lady because of all of her other beloved dogs and cats. Lady owes her life to this outstanding woman and GRR is very thankful that she took the time to stop and help this beautiful golden girl.

Lady is doing well; she has a healthy appetite and has been an angel about taking her remaining medications. She has a slight frame, but is a little plump, so we’re working on trimming her down a bit. She has a beautiful, fluffy, coat, and loves to sit and be brushed.

While she doesn’t appear to be an avid swimmer, she is great during baths. She loves to go for short walks and she carries the leash in her mouth. Have you seen the dogs on the hike-and-bike trails that always have a stick or ball in their mouth? That would be Lady! She’ll walk ½ mile with a tennis ball in her mouth and think nothing of it.

She loves to play with a tennis ball and will fetch it and bring it back if you throw it out for her. Even when she’s resting on the floor, she’ll have a tennis ball lying nearby. She also likes to occasionally sleep on her back, which makes for a funny sight!

Lady loves our own golden and gets along perfectly with our cat.

She’s a bit of a counter surfer, and we’re working on this, as well as other simple things she wasn’t taught along the way like “sit.” She has mastered “stay,” and won’t try to follow you out the door if you ask her to stay put. She sleeps on her dog bed on the floor in our room and will wait patiently for you to let her out and feed her first thing in the morning.

Lady is a beautiful golden, and very deserving of a wonderful new life. She has a sweet and gentle disposition, she is gentle around people of all ages, does not jump up on people (although may put her paw on your lap or arm if she’s looking for a little pat on the head!), doesn’t get up on the furniture, is reliably housebroken, and is a good roommate with the other animals in the house.
