S cout

This 2-year old beauty recently came to Gold Ribbon Rescue from the San Antonio animal shelter. One more day could have been a horrible fate. How fortunate that someone at the shelter came to her rescue! She was named “Scout” and she has been responding to her new name very well.

After a little more than 2 weeks in our home, Scout has blended into our family quite well and has proven to be a sweet and gentle girl. She gets along very well with our 6-year old male Golden as well as our 14-year old “pound puppy”. Scout was thin when she came to live with us, but, in the past two weeks she has gained some weight and is about 54 lbs. A few more pounds wouldn’t hurt and as she has gained weight we have also noticed an increase it her activity level – a sure indication that she is healthy and happy.

As you can see by the photos, Scout is a beautiful golden red with a bright smile and amber eyes….truly a beauty!! She is obviously a trained dog and we’re sure some one loved her very much. She responds instantly to the word “no” and she tries so hard to please! She walks well on a leash, doesn’t jump up on people or furniture, doesn’t beg and is house broken. Scout has also proven to be a good traveler and likes to ride in the car. She sits on command and also when she anticipates a treat. So very lady-like!

Scout is not an excitable dog, although food or a walk will always interest her. She is fascinated by the birds and squirrels that inhabit our backyard. She runs from tree to tree trying to figure out why they don’t want to play with her! Her favorite past-time indoors is to watch the backyard through our patio door…just in case the squirrels launch an invasion! When she first arrived it seemed as though Scout really didn’t know how to play. But, over time she has begun to interact with our Golden and has shown some interest in the doggy toys we have. But, mostly Scout likes to solicit ear and neck rubs from any handy family member. She is a wonderful dog and would make a great pet for someone. Scout deserves a forever family that will love her and take care of her.
