Adopted
Jenny
is a 5-1/2-year-old sweetheart that easily managed to wiggle her way into our
hearts. Jenni is everything that a family dog should be and more. She is calm,
well behaved, and housetrained. She even knows the difference between dog toys
and kid toys. Jenni is so patient, tolerant and gentle with kids that she would
be great with a family with young children. She has absolutely no bad habits
unless you don’t want a ball hound. Jenni will retrieve the ball until your arm
falls off, but that is easily solved by hiding the ball when you get tired of
the game. She even stays off the furniture for the most part; although I
occasionally find her snuggled up with my daughter in her bed.
As is common with Golden Retrievers, Jenni needs daily antihistamines due to
skin allergies. The generic brand of benadryl works just fine. Sadly, Jenni’s
previous owners did not take care of her ears when they needed treatment and she
suffered chronic ear infections. Her new family will have to be sure to clean
her ears twice a week to keep the ear infections from reoccurring.
Jenni loves to go for walks and is wonderful on a leash. She enjoys taking rides
in the car and can jump into the SUV by herself. She comes when called and does
not run off. Jenni loves to be close to you and will sit in front of you for
petting. If she wants more attention or wants you to throw the ball, she may put
her paws up on you in a very gentle manner. She really is soft about putting her
paw on us, but we’re telling her “off” to discourage this habit. Jenni does like
to sit under the toddlers’ high chairs in hopes of tasty morsels falling her way
but she does not beg or pester us for food. She has only counter surfed once and
that was for some leftover wedding cake. Guess Jenni has a sweet tooth that fits
her very, very sweet personality
