Bonnie is a very pretty,
blond, 2 year old girl that was originally found as a stray. She spent
two weeks living at a vet's
office, because they liked her so well, before coming to Gold Ribbon Rescue.
Bonnie is doing well in her foster home and loves playing with her foster GR
brother and sister. She is also good with any other dogs we have
encountered. She is good with kids, including toddlers and takes treats SO
gently. She does enjoy her treats and has learned to sit and shake. We are
working on stay and down. Bonnie is still learning her name and needs to
practice coming when called consistently. Bonnie is house trained but is
still learning to stay off the furniture (greatly improved!) and to tell the
difference between doggie toys and baby toys. She really enjoys dog bones,
etc., so when she takes the wrong thing, we substitute a dog chew for that
and she is content with the swap.
Bonnie
seems to enjoy the game of dashing out the front door and watching all the
silly humans chase her up and down the street. She likes to see what type of
treats we will bring out to tempt her to come back
home. I am sure she wonders why we are chasing her and calling, "Bonnie!" If
we only knew her real name, perhaps she would listen. We are working on some
behavior techniques to help Bonnie learn that it is not a good idea to bolt
out the door. Bonnie is very clever and is showing much improvement already.
However, her new family will need to continue with this program until Bonnie
is totally adjusted and comfortable in her new home and becomes attached to
her new family.
Bonnie
is very calm in the house and enjoys romping around outside with the other
dogs. She enjoys fetching and has jumped in the pool a few times to cool
off. She is a good swimmer! Bonnie has a great appetite and eats her food
very well. We have not had any problems with counter surfing or raiding the
trash. Outside, she is well behaved. The only digging she does is to create
a little "nest" in the kids'
sandbox to have a nice, cool, snugly place to lay down.
Bonnie is anxiously waiting for her special forever family that will love
her and give her a home that she can call her own.
