Shelby

Shelby is a beautiful 2-year-old boy that came to us from a family who is no
longer able to keep him. He is very friendly and lovable. Actually, that is
his only problem. There is a bit too much of him to love. Shelby is quite
overweight due to overfeeding by his previous owners. He is now on a diet
and exercise program and should return to a good weight over the next couple
of months. He should weigh, perhaps, 75-80 pounds at his ideal weight.
Otherwise, he is very healthy.

Shelby is great with children; even my toddlers. He is soft and gentle and
does not chew up their toys. Even at his young age, he seems to know the
difference between dog toys and kid toys. Shelby is house trained and has
great house manners. So far, he has not been that interested in retrieving
but we are working on that as part of his "get fit" exercise program. Shelby
is a calm, easy, but fun and loving dog that would fit into most families.
He is very people oriented and sits nicely for petting while leaning into
your leg for more attention. He will occasionally "paw" at you to keep you
on track petting him. He takes treats ever-so-gently. Shelby is an amazing
dog. With his excellent behavior, it is hard to believe he is only 2 years
old, but his birthday was just this month. Even with his current extra
baggage, Shelby is one gorgeous boy. He has a very full, thick, long gold
coat that definitely needs regular brushing, but it is worth the extra work.
Shelby is sort of a like a big, cuddly teddy bear that enjoys all the bear
hugs that he can get!
