Adopted
Missy
Meet Missy. At this moment
she is the youngest in our group at GRR. Missy is 5 months old, happy and
healthy. We have been fostering her for about 3weeks and have really gotten to
know all her likes and dislikes!
Missy
enjoys her two foster brothers like crazy! She likes to read a good book or
magazine...................well maybe ready isn’t exactly the right word. She
also likes to help us make up our beds, that is almost the highlight of her day!
On occasion she has been known to throw a toilet paper party and decorate the
downstairs with the toilet paper still on the roll just a spinning! Her latest
is the furniture, as you can see from the picture she thinks the couch is here
for her to nap on and watch TV. Sometimes it is hard to tell her “No” because
she is so darn cute. After all she is a puppy and she is doing all of the
obvious golden puppy antics. Even though it’s hard to tell her “No” we do
because we know what she needs to be the perfect golden retriever for the
perfect family out there waiting for her.
Missy really is a sweet, snuggly girl. She loves our 7 year old son to death!
She always wants to know what that boy is up too! Missy is housebroken and crate
trained. She is a big eater, big player, big sleeper and she has the biggest
heart a happy puppy could have! She has a crate in our bedroom and we leave the
crate door open for her, sometimes I wake to find her peacefully sleeping in her
crate, or snoozing comfortably on the floor next to my side of the bed. Is there
anything more heartwarming than watching a puppy or a baby sleep?
We
recently gave her a bath and she seemed to enjoy it but the big fun came when
she realized her foster brothers also got a bath and that meant running around
the yard and playing like crazy until they dried off. Missy doesn’t seem to have
any fears except her fear of the vacuum. I sometimes get the vacuum out and
leave it in the room for her to explore but the real trick will be trying to get
her to stay in the same room when I turn it on. I usually leave the back door
open for her to have the freedom to go in and out while I'm vacuuming. She may
never get learn to like the vacuum, but who can blame her? Do any of us REALLY
like the vacuum?
Missy is also doing well with her manners, she knows “sit,” “catch it,"
“settle,” “come,” and we are working on “shake.” She also is gentle when
accepting treats. She LOVES the tennis ball and she actually retrieves it. She
brings it back and is ready to give chase as soon as you are ready to throw the
ball again. We are working on getting her comfortable with a leash; she was a
bit frightened of the leash to begin with. It seems clear she never had one of
before she came to GRR. We let her wear her leash around the house or we leave
it on the floor so she can use to it. She is getting better because now when we
put her leash on she will occasionally carry it around in her mouth. She has
also taken a liking to carrying around our dog’s leashes; the funny part is that
she likes to do so when they are attached to the other end.
Missy is your typical happy-go-lucky puppy, full of fun, full of life and full
of love to give to the right family. She is waiting patiently….are you the
perfect family for this little Golden Girl?
