Berkeley

Berkeley was found in the back yard of an empty home. His family had abandoned him and after a week or so, the neighbors became aware of this and took him in. It doesn't take but a day with Berkeley for you to wonder in amazement how anyone could leave this soft, lovable boy. Berkeley is so handsome, at 76 pounds and with a beautiful golden-red coat. Right now his tail fur is short because someone from his former life cut the hair, he is not at all embarrassed by this, he doesn’t care about short tail fur. There is no need to worry because the fur is already growing back in and looking great.

He recently had his first birthday on February 19th and we promptly celebrated with fresh baked puppy treats and a song. Of all the dogs we've fostered, Berkeley is the most calm and mild-mannered. He is inquisitive and pays close attention to even the smallest of noises. When he hears a funny sound, nothing is cuter than Berkeley with tilted head and pudgy, wrinkly brow. He likes other dogs and really loves small dogs and puppies. He is still a growing puppy himself and enjoys rolling around like one. Berkeley is of course also sweet with all people and children.

Berkeley loves to swim at the lake and eagerly fetches floating balls in tandem with Bailey, his foster Golden brother. He has had a bit of training because he knows his name, "sit", "down", he comes when you call him, walks well on a leash, and is perfectly house-trained. I might have heard him bark once or twice, but it is a rare occasion. He doesn't eat socks or chase squirrels. His favorite thing to do is take a nap with you. He loves being close and often pulls the nose-nudge trick in trying to get you to pet him even more.

Berkeley is such a love and is patiently waiting to find a nice forever family.
