Adopted

Megan... There was a time not so long ago that I was tied to a tree with no where to go, no one to play with and no one to love. It made me lonely and it made me scared. Sometimes I would try to get away--hoping to find a new family that wanted to keep me close to them. Then one day a car drives up and this nice lady puts me in the back of her car. She even had a piece of sausage biscuit! I was a little worried, but then she took me to this house that had another dog and a young boy that put his hands on me gently and rubbed behind my ears. They all hugged me and patted me. Could it be that I didn't need to run after all? Could it be that there is a family out there that would let me love them and follow them around?

I'm starting to think so. This family has been good to me. They let me stay in their house and I've showed them that I DO know house manners. I hated that tree! I'm quiet and I'm good. My foster mom says I’m really sweet and I make sure to take the treats very gently from her fingers. I love the kids that are around but at first I wasn’t so sure about this big red dog that lives here, but now we play together, nap together and even watch “squirrel TV” together.

One day my foster family took me outside on a leash. I thought, “oh no, maybe they’re going to find that tree!”, so I pulled on the leash. But after a block or so, I realized that they were just taking me and that big red boy out on walk. I had the best time. I don’t pull anymore – walking is fun.

I'm feeling really safe now and I’ve even tried out some of those toys in the basket. I don't chew on anything because good girls don't do that, but I think my foster mommy put them there for us to chew on. All those years have taken a little bit of a toll on my teeth and a little bit on my spirit, but I'm healthy, soft, and ready and willing to give all my love to a new family. My spirit is coming back a little more each day and I know once I have my forever family I will be whole again.

Foster family note: Megan looks to be a Golden-Lab mix. She has the coloring of a Golden and a short, soft coat like a lab. She has a dainty face and dainty paws and is extremely gentle. We’re just happy we could save her.
