Buddy is a 1-2 year old male Golden Retriever found by a Good Samaritan in the Austin area. Buddy came running up to her during a storm. He immediately won her heart and she let him in the house to get cleaned up and dry. The Good Sam fell in love with his sweet personality and wished that she were able to keep him, but could not because she had already rescued and kept five other dogs!
Buddy was limping badly and was taken to the vet. X-rays were taken which showed that Buddy needed hip surgery. He was most likely hit by a car because the head of the femur was popped up and out of the hip socket.
Buddy's rescuer called GRR to see if we could help him out. Fortunately, we were able to do so and Buddy came to one of our foster homes 2 weeks ago. He was seen by an orthopedic surgeon who performed the necessary surgery that would give Buddy a good quality and pain-free life. Buddy is now recuperating from surgery and will be ready for his forever home soon.
Update from foster family:
Buddy is incredible!! He has so much personality and spirit. Throughout all that he has gone through, Buddy has remained happy and full of life. No moping around and feeling sorry for himself! Buddy is so sweet and just loves human attention. He is super with my kids and great with all the other dogs in the house, too. Buddy is a big puppy that enjoys every minute of life and can't wait to get released from his recuperation period, so that he can run and jump and play.
Buddy is a great family dog and is quite playful. When fully recuperated from surgery, he will be able to do most things that most dogs do. He will be able to fetch and swim and go for walks and run in the yard. However, he will most likely not be able to be a running/jogging companion for long distances.
