Adopted
Sara
is a three year old stray who comes to us from the San Antonio Area. She
arrived Friday and has been a delightful houseguest. She is calm, housebroken,
completely trustworthy left loose, and sleeps the night through without a peep.
Sara doesn't jump up on people, has made no attempt to get on the furniture,
and enjoys taking her naps on the cool tile floor.
"The Pet Police" is one of Sara's nicknames. She enforces strict guidelines
that
you may pet her at any time, but if you are petting other dogs you must pet her
too. Enforcement consists of snuggling close and looking so darn
cute you can't resist her. Sara happily shares pets on an alternating basis.
In a perfect world, though, each dog gets her own hand and continuous pets.
Sara has the curliest coat I have ever seen. It is beautiful--thick and red
with lovely light and dark highlights. Sara enjoys the frequent grooming she
requires.
Sara
is small of stature and is going to be a petite beauty. She is very
overweight, but already on the path to fitness with moderate food portions and
the beginning of an exercise program. Sara enjoyed her short walk yesterday and
so did I, as she did not pull on the leash at all.
Sara is interacting well with my very active 1½ year old golden mix. I'm
working
on
Sara's dog socialization, as her initial reaction to other dogs is "go away"
instead of "come play". With some coaching Sara transitions into "come play",
so just needs work on this skill. Sara shows incredible tolerance and patience
putting up with my pestering pup who loves to play. Sara loves every human she
has met and will let them pet her all they want.
