Adopted
Antony
is a two and half year old well-mannered boy from San Antonio. He was picked up
by a Good Samaritan as a stray with a female Golden, Cleopatra, and was
transferred into GRR the last week of June.
Antony is a typical Golden. He is soooo glad to have somebody love him that he just cannot get enough. He can’t walk by anybody without his tail wagging his whole body. He has a lot of energy to run and play, but settles down in the house just like he has always been here. He is in great shape and appears to have been well cared for with our vets giving him a clean bill of health.
Antony is making the transition from the country to an inside dog just fine. He is quickly learning house-rules like no counter surfing and no eating out of the garbage. He is house broken. He knows “sit” and would not think of pulling on the lead when we go for a walk. He pretty much ignores the cat and was wonderful around our 2-year-old Grandkid. And best of all, he did not bother a single toy on the floor. We let him sleep wherever he wants at night, which is usually on the hall tile, but he stays in a crate if we leave during the day.
Be aware, he does know how to open doors. Antony let himself out the screen door the third day we had him. Much to my surprise, he was following me to the car and wanted to go. He had no interest in running which is a typical response for any dog three days into a new environment.
Antony seems to adjust quickly to every family situation. He has shown no signs of nervous anxiety during our busy family activities, but he did turn into a 60 lb. lap dog when it started thundering. He did not like sharing a food bowl with our other Golden. But, once the pecking order was set, both dogs were off playing again with no other concerns.
Antony may be part alligator. When you scratch his belly (or for that matter anywhere else), he closes his eyes and falls asleep within seconds. He does not seem to have any worries in the world.
If you are looking for a great dog that will quickly bond with your family, play well in the house, befriend your other dogs and cats, give the kids a run in the back yard, and fall fast asleep in your arms; Antony is just who you need!
