Lacy
is an amazing animal. She is sweet, loving and one of the happiest dogs I
know. She has incredible manners for a dog that has never lived in a house.
She doesn’t steal food, counter surf, or even come near us when we eat at the
coffee table (which is the perfect dog height). She doesn’t jump on people and
she she’s learning to take treats gently. She hasn’t had a single accident
inside. She waits until I open the backdoor and then runs to use the bathroom
outside. We were also able to crate train her the first night she came here.
She barked a bit but a mere 5 squirts with the water gun and she’s not made a
peep since! The joys of a slightly older dog!! They’re so easy to train! I
actually left her out for about an hour yesterday while I went to the store and
she was fine. She doesn’t touch anything (socks, shoes, etc). I don’t think
her forever home will have to crate her unless they chose to.
If I didn’t know for a fact that she is 6½, I would never believe it. She rarely WALKS anywhere, but trots! She does the Happy Dance whenever she’s about to be fed, get a treat, or if we even make eye contact with her! She gets so excited about receiving love that she can hardly stand still. You only have to say her name and her tail goes a million wags a minute and she comes bounding up, but she will leave you alone when you ask her to. I took her on a walk this morning for the first time and she was absolutely thrilled. For the first few blocks she kept dancing around me, giving me a big doggie grin. I could hear her saying, “Oh THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! For taking me for a walk!” It’s pretty obvious she hasn’t spent a lot of time walking on a leash, but she was getting the hang of it towards the end.
Lacy gets along fine with my 2 year female GR. They don’t really pay much attention to each other, but they accept each other’s presence easily. She is very interested in my cat, but I think that over time she would get used to her. She wouldn’t hurt her, she just follows her around curiously.
Lacy is a very sweet, giving animal who wants nothing more than to have someone to love forever. She has so much love to give and has such a funny personality. She’s a lot of fun to be around. She will make a wonderful addition to someone’s family and that will be a very lucky family, indeed!
