Mahli
If Mahli were a person,
she'd be a ballerina. Her habit of turning circles when she greets you would
compare with the finest pirouettes! She is a lean curly tall two-year old
strawberry blonde whose narrow features would certainly qualify her for the
Borzoi Ballet. She acts much more mature than a two-year old. She's got
great "dimples" when she smiles, and she smiles a lot. Mahli was a long-time
outside dog who has adapted beautifully to living the good life indoors.
She's had no incidents or messes and is nicely housebroken. We're watchful
however, because she like to gnaw on house slippers and is a voracious
reader-eater of papers that are within reach. So we just keep the closet door
closed and don't leave papers where she can get them. She's also learning to
counter surf, and we're learning to be counter-counter-surfer's! She's a good
girl who learns well, so we're sure her paper/slipper-eating and
counter-surfing is easily curable. We've been with her for two weeks and have
seen great strides already.
She's like a dormant flower
just waiting to bloom. Mahli is a Texas girl, so sometimes we call her "Guaca-mahli."
She goes well with lots of Texas activities like walks and swimming. She
loves small children and wags her public-relations department vigorously when
she sees them. She's not a jumper-upper, so we let her approach them easily.
She is learning to play with our golden, Sam, and they have good times
"wrestling". She gets along well with other dogs and plays when they invite
her. She was shy about everything at first, and now she seems to be ready to
put her foot into the water to test life. Speaking of water, she loves
swimming and takes to Barton Creek and Town Lake like a veteran. She doesn't
retrieve, but she swims after Sam when he's going after his floating toys.
Mahli
is 77 lbs. of trim, healthy golden girl. The vet has examined her and
declared her clear of heartworms, no ear problems, and in general great
health. She's a little bit of a "talker" who will let you know when she likes
getting her ears rubbed and will make little sounds of fun when she's
playing. Mahli has learned to come when we call her, is learning to sit and
stay and is great to walk with. She doesn't pull on the leash, and usually
doesn't get herself wrapped around trees and light poles. She sits quietly
next to us when we eat, and sleeps on the floor next to the bed. When Dean
travels, Mahli likes to keep his place warm at night and after her first
invitation last week, has decided that she can now get on the bed when she
wants to! She doesn't get on the furniture, however, and we're keeping it
that way.
She'd be great with a
family, whether there are children or not. She just needs a family to love,
and one that will love her back. We hope GRR finds her a wonderful home
because she deserves one.
