Adopted

Lady:

Lady is just about the perfect dog.  After Maura gave her a hair cut and nail job at the picnic she even looks like the perfect dog. She has just a touch of grey around her eyes which is a tribute to her 6 years with her former family.

Lady is really becoming part of the family.  When we first got her, I was afraid the years of being in a backyard would have some negative effect on her.  She spent the first couple of days in the water closet with her head behind the stool.  But, now 4 days later, she is joining in with the family, playing with PJ and generally becoming a social dog.  She does not have a single bad habit and I am trying hard not to teach her any.  Although it is fun to see her learn new dog games like jumping for Cheerios and playing ball.

She is now sleeping on the floor by the bed, but has made no attempt to get up on it.  We have not put Lady in the crate because she was 100% trustworthright from the moment she entered our home.  (I can not say that about my dog!)  She has not had any accidents even though we are sure she has always been an outside dog.  She does want to get up early and will come and nuzzle me at about 5:00 AM to go out.  But she even does that right with about a 30 second potty break and then right back to bed!

Lady is just beginning to learn about walking on a leash.  She never pulls or balks, but is just not sure where she should be and will trip you up if you don't watch her.  We are walking with a short lead now on my left side and she is learning how to pace herself with my stride.

Lady is a very very calm, easy going dog that can change homes, food, go through vet work, meet cats, have multiple baths, have fun in the park with 100 other Goldens and still be just a well mannered family member taking in all in stride.  She has the energy to keep up with a 1 yr. old puppy and the maturity to not to run you over.

This dog is a keeper.  She will make some family a great dog.  I am sure she will do well with kids, cats, other dogs, big people or little people; she will do fine.

More to follow as we watch her become a real family dog.
