Adopted
Lady
On the ride home I was expecting her to be very nervous and possibly needed to be crated. Not this Lady! She plopped down and promptly went to sleep....facing the AC vents! What a great traveler!
That afternoon when we arrived home she got to meet her two BIG foster brothers. It had been mentioned that she was a rather submissive girl, but to see her immediately begin to play with BOTH my boys put that issue to rest. What a gal!
Her favorite toy IS the tennis ball. Not only does she love to get it mushy wet by keeping it in her mouth continuously, but will also bring it to you and adoringly drop this gift into your lap! Sometimes she just stands there with it in her mouth. nudging you.. until you take it. Other times she drops it right on you. One morning I woke up to find she had come in and dropped it on the bed..right beside my arm. I discovered it when I rolled over onto it! As I opened my eyes, there she was, grinning I swear it, as I gingerly picked it up and tossed it across the room. She took this as a sign it was time to play!
Her other favorite past time is to tease and taunt my boys with the tennis ball! I wish I could film this interesting form of soggy tennis ball torture! She does it like this: first she steals the tennis ball away from whomever has it...literally pulls it out of their mouth or waits for them to let it go for a second. She then grabs the ball and runs away....only to return seconds later and rub the ball in their face! As they lunge for it she whips around and runs! She will stop and coyly look over her shoulder and wag the ball at them. If they don't chase her..she comes back and proceeds to rub the ball again in their face. It usually only takes 1 or 2 times for this to begin a major throw down! Soon the ball is discarded and they are all rolling on the floor in a fierce mock battle! Occasionally she will do this to both my boys and all 3 of them are rolling on the floor in battle! It is a sight to behold. One little 55 lb. girl taking on two 80+ boys! Did I mention she always seems to win too!
She definitely has a softer side to her. She loves to cuddle. He favorite thing to do is catch you laying on your back and snuggle up to your side and rest her head on you shoulder so that she can look you in the eye. Puppy kisses are always given.....so beware and be prepared!
We weren't sure if she was crate trained, but it appears she is! When ever she decides it time to rest.......she goes right in her crate and lays down, taking a t.ball with her usually, as company. I begun just leaving the crate door open so that she can go in when ever she feels like it. She sleeps throughout the night in it, and comes out when she hears me up and about. She often goes in there during the day time when she needs a nap........she takes several! I think my boys have told her that if she wants to play a lot she must nap a lot too. I think they just need time to catch their breath!
She's housebroken, knows sit, down, stay and hugs! She alerts when the doorbell rings but warmly greets all who enter! She also loves to chase dragonflies! She does not beg...but will gently take snacks if offered. Bananas and popcorn seem to go over really well! She's a great well behaved golden gal! She will make a great addition to someone's home as well as their heart!
