Adopted

Sam Sam is an 8 month old, gorgeous blonde boy who was given as a gift for helping someone on the roadside.  The recipients wanted him to get a great life so they called GRR.  Watch for more as we get to know him better.

Here is an update on Sam:

Sam is a beautiful and eager young golden. He is very intelligent and a quick study.  However, Sam is still very much a puppy and requires lots of attention and training.  But, boy does he make up for it with love and affection!  Sam loves everyone and everything. Sam adores our 12-week-old kitten and will lie on the bed as the kitten frantically attacks his face and tail.  Sometimes, the cat will give chase and off they go.  He and our nine-month-old golden, Bennie, play endlessly.  Bennie is teaching Sam the joys of chew toys and playing ball.  Sam will chase the ball, but will leave the retrieving for Bennie.  Sam is very active and will require a home that has lots of puppy patience.  If "Barbie" were a dog, Sam would be "Ken".

Update 07/18/01:

Sam has been doing absolutely great!  Sam, Ben and myself have been cooling off frequently this summer at Barton Springs. Let me tell you, Sam loves the water. Sam would leap in after Ben for the tennis ball and get swept down current and completely forget the task at  hand. Often times he could be found down stream a ways playing with dogs or being completely adulated by children. His awesome natural good looks and super sweet demeanor draw kids to him like ants lining up at a fourth of July picnic. Sam is diligently working out a few very minor puppy behavior kinks and longs to love and please.

Update 08/17:

Sam Update:
Sam is doing great!  He has learned so much since we have had him.  He's
incredibly gentle with the kitty now!  Sam loves to run out & get in the car
-- we will drive him down the road just for kicks. He still pulls some on
the leash but is getting better every day.  He doesn't counter surf anymore
and finally appreciates a good bone. Of course it's usually the one Ben is
chewing, but oh well. He takes the bone or toy and goes to the same spot on
the couch every time.  He will share his bowl with the cat or switch bowls
with Ben. He is very easy going.
He is a total love bug & just wants love from everyone. I would like to see
Sam in a family with another dog.  Children would also be great. Sam is
incredibly gentle & would love all the attention & love. Of course, he still
needs a family who is willing to continue working with him. I want them to
know it will be hard at first, but he is so worth it.  I would hate to see
someone surrender him again because they aren't prepared for a giant puppy.
We would, of course, want to foster him again if he ever was re-surrendered.
He is a great dog and with time and patient will be a super family pet for
many years to come!
