Adopted
Shiner is a sweet, curious playful dog. He
is a big curly teddy bear who loves attention and is great with kids. Shiner is big in bone structure and weight but is trimming down nicely. We put him outside when we eat because he loves to beg. He has taken food (oatmeal cookies that are NOT on his diet!) from the table when left
unattended as well as searched through our kitchen garbage can looking for people food.
He is very loveable and quite a snuggle bug. He will nudge with his nose to get you to keep petting him and sometimes does not know when to quit.
He loves squeak toys and balls. He is very good at catching a tennis ball and his squeak football in midair. Could he be the next Air Bud?
He also likes to entertain himself when lying down by taking one of his hind feet and gently pushing a tennis ball back and forth. He concentrates hard while he does this.
The other night he dropped a tennis ball in his dish and then picked up the dish and carried it around the room. He also likes to re-arrange the toy box if left opened. He will pick out several toys of my daughters and set them around the room. He sometimes does chew them but not very often. He is quite entertaining.
Shiner is reliably potty trained, does not get up on the furniture and will stay in any room that has something blocking an entry (chair, laundry basket) He is not fond of a crate, however, will gladly come when
called to our dinette area of our kitchen that we block off when we leave the house. He will go to this area on his own to nap during the day.
He is recovering nicely from his heartworm treatment. The vet said he could now take short walks (no more than 1/2 mile) during the cooler part of the day. He does love to go on walks but needs some training here -- sometimes it is hard to tell who is walking whom!
He is good with other dogs and cats and likes to wrestle with other dogs. Our golden, Heidi, does not, and lets him know it. Shiner is a loving dog and will make a great
family pet.
