Crackers
came to us from the shelter a little underweight and not very active. For
a 14 week old that was unusual but that was only the calm before the storm!
With lots of love, food, 2-baths and a warm cozy place to sleep it did not take
long for this little pup to wake up! He's started doing all the things a pup
of this age should: playing, chasing, chewing on bones, toys and any other
thing he can find -- some of which he is learning are NOT okay to chew on, like
my coffee table legs!
Crackers is into all kinds of mischief, just like any young pup will be. He runs and runs and chases and chases with our other dog and then he sleeps and sleeps -- just to get up and do it all over again. He is really keeping me on my toes!
Along with eating well, Crackers sleeps through the night and is currently doing very well with housebreaking. He sits very sweetly for treats when he has earned them. Crackers walks pretty well on a leash, and loves to be leader of the pack. He is fearless and the only thing that seems to startle him is when the vacuum starts up. On a recent trip to Dallas, Crackers did very good playing with other dogs and humans. He has a sweet and snuggly side and is very loving and happy all the time. His tail is constantly wagging -- we have even seen that tail wag when he is asleep!!
Update 01/25/02:
The past few weeks have been very active for Crackers. He has grown a lot and has put on some more weight, 31lbs now. This active little pup is always on the go! Playing with toys--tennis balls are his favorite. He gets one in his mouth and paws at the other ones and the chase begins as the balls roll around. Eventually, he gathers them up and rolls and wiggles on his back making all kinds of noises at them.
Crackers is now letting us know when he needs to go potty outside, he runs to the back door and paws at the door and runs back at us as if to say 'I gotta go, come on!" He loves to run and play in the yard and when we throw a ball he gets it and brings it back to us, that game could go on and on if it were up to Crackers.
He is still stealing everything in and out of sight! Sometimes he brings us things I had no idea we even had, h
is favorite place lately is the pantry. He is quite smart & resourceful too. He can barrel through our baby gate and somehow get the gate at our stairway open when it has to be locked down from the top! That one still puzzles us. Needless to say Crackers is full of action and is busy all the time. He's doing well with his house manners and getting better with his crate training - today he went in right away, 2 times! yeah for Crackers. This little guy is one in a million!
