Adopted

Kelly  and Kris appear to be sisters who were dumped off in a neighborhood near a military base. They are sweet and charming. They appear to be about 14 months old. Kelly is the red girl and Kris the blonde.

Like her sister Krissy, Kelly is very affectionate.  Gone is the lethargic dog that arrived at our house.   In her place we have a very happy energetic girl.   She understands 'NO' but her curiosity gets the better of her.  She wants to check out every room and every thing in the house.  We have been very careful about taking her from her crate right outside before we let her play in the house.  We always put her back outside before she goes back in her crate.   She had one accident in the house the second day she was with us but has been good since.   She is so 'busy'.  She doesn't let you know when she needs to go out, so we try to make sure we put her outside frequently.    She is best outside by herself or with another dog.  If we go outside with her, she is much more interested in us than she is in why she is outside.

If every one in the room is sitting, she will play with a ball or a toy by tossing around and running after it.   If anyone is up, us or the other dogs, Kelly is hard pressed to keep all 4 feet on the ground.   She expresses her affection by jumping up and trying to lick your face.  I'm sure she's beginning to think her name is Kelly 'Down'.    She will need some obedience training when she goes to her permanent home.    She is just as sweet as can be but, until she understands not to jump up on people, I would be very careful with her around small children.

Kelly gets along well with our 6 yr. old golden but is much too energetic for our older dog.  He out weighs her but the little jumping jack keeps flattening him.

She walks relatively well on a leash, as long as she is the only dog you are walking.  If you walk her with another dog she gets excited and it's a little chaotic.

She does not like her crate.  We have tried everything but this little girl wants to be out and about.    She will get in the crate for us if we toss in a treat.  We quickly close the door or she's back out.    She will bark, cry and even howl for a short time when crated.   She usually settles down quickly.    She is very good at night.   Once she is in her crate and has settled down, she is quiet all night.

We are not sure how good she is in a car.  When my husband picked her up she was crated for the ride home.  Our Vet is walking distance from the house so her one trip to the vet was on foot.

Like her sister Krissy, Kelly likes to watch TV.    One evening I was alone with Kelly.    I put our two dogs in the laundry room to give the little girl some time to check out the house.     I was watching the 'Animal Planet' - 'Big Cats'.   Kelly sat about 5 feet from the TV and watched 'Animal Planet' for about 15 minutes.   She not only watched but also commented.   She sat up straight as can be and from time to time would growl at the cats -- Funny, funny girl!
