Adopted

Suburban, was adopted last December and had a wonderful family.  However, a major allergy & asthma problem arose.  Despite multiple treatments they could not keep Suburban, whom they renamed "Gus", and they brokenheartedly returned him to GRR.  They write this story for him:

My name is Gus. I’m a happy rambunctious one-year-old.  And I’m not just another handsome face—I’m a quick learner, too (especially if reward treats are given). I’m house trained and a very good nighttime sleeper.

I’ve been working on my vocabulary—I know "out", "come", and "sit", but I still need more training on "lay down" and "off". I don’t understand "stay" yet. I would be great in obedience training because I like to work for treats. I do know how to "shake" hands and I’m willing to learn new tricks. My favorite words are "walk" and "cookie".

I still have plenty of puppy energy. I play with great gusto with my toys; plush squeaky toys, pull toys and chew toys—I like them all. I especially like when I can get my friends to join in the play. I can entertain myself, but sometimes I make toys out of things I find laying around the house (particularly things I can shred, as well as shoes and socks) and I have been known to prune a few plants.

I have a reputation for pulling on the leash, but a training collar makes a real gentleman out of me. I love walks and won’t hesitate to bark at you if I think it’s walk time. I’ve been getting 3-4 walks a day and I never tire of exploring the neighborhood.   I can run fast and jump high so I would probably be good at agility training or fly ball if you teach me how!

I don’t counter surf, but I do enjoy getting a few table scraps on special occasions. I will lay down and wait for a handout, but if I think you have forgotten me at the end of a meal I will give you a reminder bark.

I know how to go in my "house" (crate) and sit for a treat if you need to crate me. I actually like napping in the crate with the door open. I am used to free roam of the house because I behave quite well.

Finally I will give you an exuberant greeting every time! I’m working on learning to sit for a treat when I greet someone so I will be a little less "bouncy" and I really am improving.
