Ranger is a 4 year old male who comes to GRR with his sister Wrigley. Their family's child developed severe allergies to the handsome pair and GRR was called. The dogs
will not be placed together and both are loving life in their new foster homes.
Ranger is a big boy and needs a diet. They both are great in the house and were raised as housedogs. He is great with kids and other dogs, he's never been around cats but would probably do great. He is very loving and affectionate.
Ranger is great but doesn't photograph really well. He really looks like a sheep with skinny legs and 90 lb. of "wool." He has an adorable little face. Poor guy , he is such a great dog. After
he loses some weight he will be as handsome as ever. He is now on his thyroid medicine regularly (about $6/mo.), a strict diet, lots of romping with the kids and other dogs, a walk every night, and not much time to lay around. He should be back in shape soon with all
that!
He was so cute tonight, he tried to get up on the couch to lay on Mike , our son . But instead of going up from the front of the couch, he thought he would go up over the side of the couch. Unfortunately he got stuck with front half of his body over the arm of the couch
and the bottom half still on the floor. Belly stuck on the arm of the couch -- what a hoot! We let him work at it and he finally made it, I don't know how, all the way over the arm of the couch and landed on top of Mike. I had! to check to see if my son was still breathing, but all was well.
Ranger is a great dog. No issues at all. Gets along with all 3 other dogs here and even lays down back to back with Nugget. He acts like he has been here forever. Loves to hang around in the kitchen and is superb and well mannered with the children. Perfect!!!!
He does not need the crate but will go in when we say "kennel" to Cooper or Nugget. So he seems to know what it means. Today I needed Nugget in the crate while I wasn't home and both of them went in the crate together. Poor Nugs - didn't have much breathing room in there! I was able to coax Ranger out while keeping Nugget (the inappropriate object
shredder/eater) in the crate.
Update 10/20/01:
Quick
update on Ranger, he is no problem; he
is the easiest dog I have EVER seen or had in my house. Would
be a super dog to put with little kids, even babies.
His only drawback to his perfection is he needs to lose 30 lb.
Otherwise, he is perfect !
