Adopted
Maverick
is a great 8 year old that returns to rescue after being adopted last year.
Mav's family had some life changes and could no longer keep him. Maverick is
housebroken, crate trained and quite the lovely gentlemen with kids, cats, other
dogs and all humans. He gets this foster update:
I think Maverick would be fine left free in the house but he likes his crate so he stays in there when we are not home. Mav is calm and happy with children of all ages. His former family says he is wonderful with children even the 1 y/o boy who would use Maverick to pull up on. They say Maverick was always great with kids of any age. Maverick and Caesar my cat, get along great. They like to drink water from the water bowl together. It's really cute.
Maverick has this high pitched bark when he gets excited. He always barks when we come home, after a little barking and bumping into your leg to let you know he's glad to see you, he quiets right down. He has a low protective bark when someone comes to the door or walks past the house. He stops barking at people in the yard or at the doorbell when you tell him to "Be quiet" or "Stop it." He likes to run around the yard and sniff everything and comes inside right away when you call him. Maverick goes right to bed when we go to bed. He would sleep on the bed if we let him, but he is so polite, he WILL NOT get on the bed unless he is invited. He sleeps through the night on the floor right next to my side of the bed.
He is a true retriever. He gets the ball, brings it back and drops it beside you. If he doesn't drop it right away he gives it to you on command. He likes for his back and tummy to be brushed. Mav is in good shape; his weight is perfect at 70.2 pounds. He wants to please so he should be easy to train. Maverick is no Couch Potato but he doesn't need lots of exercise. He is always ready to play and he enjoys a good romp around the back yard with our 4 year old golden. He is equally happy snoozing by your feet or just hanging out in the same room with his people. Maverick is not pushy about getting attention, but occasionally he will come up and rest his chin on your leg or put his paw on your hand when he thinks it's been too long since you gave him some love.
He's
a great dog and deserves a great home. I would trust him with any type
of family. He gets along with all dogs and cats, he's good with kids and
he loves people. Maverick has lots of love to share; he's just waiting
for a family to share it with.
